The endocrine system is the second great controlling system, together with the nervous system it coordinates and directs the activity of the body's cells. The endocrine system uses hormones which are released into the blood to be transported leisurely throughout the body. The endocrine system regulates processes that can go on for relatively long periods and, in some cases, continuously. The scientific study of hormones and endocrine organs is called endocrinology.
The Endocrine system strive for homeostasis which means to keep a proper balance of chemicals and other substances in the body. It's made up mostly of glands and endocrine tissue inside other organs. The hypothalamus is a main part of the endocrine system. It's the hypothalamus that sends out the directions to the hormones where to go and what to do. Hypothalamus is involved in body temperature, emotions and sexual activity.
The hormones gets a signal from the hypothalamus or some else where where to go. It transports through the blood stream and when it reaches the target cell it travels through the cytoplasm into the cell.
